Double Up…

…the number of Border Agents who cannot arrest anybody.  And, if they do, cannot detain or deport them.

Demand a 90% apprehension rate of illegal aliens, a statistic that can never be verified.

Whatever you do, do not build tall fences… and certainly not with wide gates.

Anything, anything, anything but Securing the Borders First.

Why is that the goal?  Why the posturing?

La Gran Mentira.

It’s Always the Right Time…

..to cut Government Workers residing in the Bureaucracy.

The primary issue for the upcoming mid-terms will now be the Corruption of Government.  Rightly so.  But it was going to be “just” the size and scope…

The Democrats were ready for this and are preparing to argue the time is not now to “put hard-working people out of work”.  Particularly during a period of high unemployment and a precarious recovery underway.  (Both of which were supposed to be solved by now through all of our money, as well as money magically created on a printer, being thrown to the wind in the name of the Obama Stimulus.)

The “hard-working people” in this case are Government Employees… who would necessarily lose their jobs when government is reduced in size and scope.

This is one of the reasons I do not believe the scandals at the IRS and DOJ were intended to be discovered.  Not only does it take the focus away from any conjured success the Administration can point to in various areas where government has become obese, it also creates a hostile environment within which to convince voters that every government employee is “hard-working”… at least hard-working in a way we would want them to be.

This will also be the defense used to protect Obama Care.  Should a repeal, or de-funding, movement gain any real traction the Administration will fall back on the number of people who will be put out of work should it happen.  It’s all they will have.

If our candidates genuinely believe what they profess to believe, then it is always the right time to “free the workers enslaved by a government paycheck” and allow them to enjoy life within the private sector.  We will welcome them with open arms.  It could be enlightening for them to join the rest of us in the world we have to live.

We would all stand to benefit because, the private sector is in desperate need of workers willing to do the jobs Unions will not do.

But there lies the rub.

An Insurance policy has been put in place by the Leftists.

The Unions have been working diligently to raise the minimum wage across the country, and in correlation raise the base Union wages.  They have been successful.

By raising the Minimum Wage levels they are pricing entry-level jobs out of existence.  Employers simply cannot afford to hire low-skilled workers and train them.

By raising the Minimum Wage levels, they are making business risk too sever.  Entrepreneurs cannot afford the labor cost to take the risk of starting a new business.

And, by raising Minimum Wage levels the rest of us are finding our dollar only goes half as far as it used to.  Because, those business struggling to keep the doors open have to raise their prices strictly due to the cost of labor.

The Unions are punishing all of us.  And, they are too focused on Socialist ends to care.

The war on economic prosperity is in full swing.  The Progressive Socialists are winning.

It may be time to start thinking in Black and Gray.

It’s Long and Hard…

…to Understand.

I am not a Conspiracy Theorist.  At least not the kind involving dark smoke-filled rooms, with big round tables, and a collection of old robed rich guys with heavy accents sitting around plotting the control of the World.

I believe this movie fodder is ridiculous for a couple of reasons.

First… it requires secrets, and a number of people keeping them.  The simple fact is every time you tell someone your secret it becomes exponentially less likely to remain so.

Second… The old robed rich guys with the heavy accents don’t need the dark rooms.  Secret Cabals just have no reason to exist.  They’ll do whatever they’re going to do right out in the street, in front of God and everybody.

The folks who rise to power have realized through experience that doing things to people who are not interested in having things done to them only requires complexity.  It requires many levels of separation between the person in charge and those who do the doing.  The only other factor needed is a shared ideology to mold the actions of all involved.  That’s it.  (It also helps to control the branch in charge of enforcing the law… but I digress.)

The reason this works is due to the short attention span of the public… and sadly, a Press with an equality short attention span seasoned with a lack of interest.

Let me demonstrate with one of the most fundamental issues that no one will touch… ever…

“Why are Unions interested in raising the Minimum Wage when no Union Member is subject to it?  And why do they expressly send out otherwise unemployable, dirty, non-union, hippies to get me to sign petitions to raise it?”

– Well, the Unions have a base wage which is negotiated in their contracts.  It is the least amount of money their members will work for and is correlated directly to the Minimum Wage through a formula… BLAH, Blah, blah, bla…

See?  I lost your attention.

It doesn’t take too many layers of separation, or complexity, to lose the interest of the typical voter.

This current crop of scandals is demonstrating this for all to see.

These are not conspiracies in the movie sense… but they are certainly conspiracies of the dictionary definition.

But beyond the legality or illegality found in these actions by government, it illustrates a behavior.  It shows us how it’s done.

And, once we understand how it’s done it leads us to a question this Administration really does not want asked.

First, however, let me ask you a question.  Isn’t there an aspect of the IRS scandal that is rattling around in the back of your head unresolved?  An inkling of something being not quite right?  Haven’t you asked yourself why ONLY 60% of Americans believe it to be a huge problem when Government uses it’s power to oppress segments of the population it disagrees with?  Do you wonder why 100% of us don’t see the danger when government changes hands on a regular basis?

It’s that last question I want you to focus on.

If you, like most of us, believe Government is transitory and the benefit of that is transparency albeit delayed at times, you’d only be half right.  And, a number of educated Socialists know this.

It is true, that within specified times, we get to voice our opinion of our representatives and attempt to fire them… but this dynamic does not apply to the bureaucrats.  It does not apply to the government employees… just like the ones who work at the IRS.  (It goes for every Department, but let’s stay focused.)

I am willing to bet that right now, as I pound this out, a primary topic of discussion at the White House is one Lois Lerner.

Why?  Because if someone doesn’t take the fall for the malfeasance at the IRS soon, in order to take the focus away from the scandal, Lois Lerner will become a topic of much discussion in regard to how she can refuse to leave/step down/retire/get lost in the woods/fall off a cannon in Fort Marcy Park.  Which then leads one to the question, “Who’s in charge?” and “Why can’t these people be fired?”.  Once you go there, you enter the world of Unions and Unelected Officials.

Finally, the epiphany occurs when you realize that the bureaucrats/government workers, the “Doers”, NEVER change.  And, if they are all of a specific political persuasion, or subscribe to a single governing ideology… then government is not transitory.  In this case, the bureaucrats/government workers, the “Doers” are Liberal Progressives… and they know they run things no matter who is in office.

This is an “Uh-Oh” moment.  A moment this Liberal Administration does not want occurring on its watch.  Better that this point arise during a Conservative Administration so it can be dismissed as… say it with me… a “Conspiracy Theory”.  Well Done!

I have touched on this previously, and more concisely, in Very Open and Very Public!

To reiterate, we already have term limits for politicians which are called elections.  What we really need is Term Limits for the Bureaucrats/Government Workers.

But alas, without the Press doing their job, to get people to understand this may be Long and Hard.  And, when we are faced with that, we most often get screwed.

“I Don’t Think Targeting is Wrong”

Acting IRS Commissioner Mr. Stephen Miller (Could actually be Eugene Levy,  Geoffrey Rush or their offspring, I’m awaiting verification on this.) , during this mornings hearing regarding the IRS targeting Conservative Groups stated unequivocally that he did not believe targeting was wrong.
Much is being made that this man was a Bush appointee.
Folks… this man is exhibiting the Cultural Mindset which resides within the Government as we know it. It doesn’t matter who appointed him. I don’t care if George Washington himself personally indorsed Mr. Miller. He is an example, just an example, of what is wrong with the IRS.  I’ll leave alone the fact the George Bush, pick one, was not a rock ribbed Constitutional Conservative.
Bear in mind, Mr. Miller is just one of the players in this scandal and he wasn’t in charge during the peak of these targeted investigations of groups based on politics as determined by those in the IRS.
There are many more people involved here. Many, many more.

It is also amazing, and worth paying attention to, how much the IRS and apparently this White House depends on the news media for being alerted to issues which they are a part of. Frankly, it should cause every American to shake their head and wonder if anyone works in Washington D.C., and if so do any of them possess cell phones. The lack of communication and reliance on outside third parties to inform them what is happening within their own departments is astounding.

Please… please pay attention to this. This is Bloated, Over-reaching, Unaccountable and Oppressive Bureaucracy on display.

This attitude permeates all agencies within our Government.

This is not just about the IRS.

When Teachers go on Strike

…Do our kids get Smarter?

By any objective measurement, be it Local, State, Federal or Global the more money taxpayers pour into education the further our children, as a group, fall behind. Simply put, the more we spend the dumber they get.

So the answer is yes… when teachers stop teaching our students stand to become smarter.

The statistics don’t lie.

Don’t give me “The Parents are to Blame…” propaganda.  The parents have never historically cared any more or less than they do today… and the more the Public Schools positioned themselves as taxpayer-funded baby sitters rather than serious educators the more the public came to see them as such.  The only people who should be upset are all of us who have paid for this debacle.  We should all walk out into the middle of the street, shake hands, then begin kicking ourselves for allowing it to happen.

If you think I’m wrong, Prove it.   Let’s cut all Federal Education Dollars while banning Public Service Unions and chart the Progress over a few years.

The only downside I see is that our children will be deprived of the steady diet of subtle socialist indoctrination.

It can’t get any Worse…

I Pay Taxes! I should get to Vote!

I want to explore an argument that is bubbling up from the illegal immigration debate.  It’s the argument that since one pays taxes that person, here legally or not, should get to vote.  The proponents of this argument offer that since the individual in question is paying for “the roads and bridges” that the individual should also have a say through participation in the electoral process.

OK…

Seems reasonable enough, right?  Who can really argue with that?

So let’s play this game.

Let’s say I agree.  I too believe that since an individual pays taxes he or she should be able to vote regardless of their status.

Applying this kind of thinking, I think I should be able to vote were I pay, or have paid, taxes too.

So this means I get to vote in; The United States – what I mean by this is almost every State in the Union, Mexico, Canada, Russia, Italy, Finland, Great Briton, Switzerland, France and the British West Indies.  I apologize for those countries left intentionally and unintentionally out.

That’s a lot of voting… but I’m sure the Countries and States in question will understand, and if they don’t I’m just as sure I can count on the support of those proponents of the above argument to offer the full force of their support.  Right, Immigration Advocates Network?

“Wait!” they might say.  “You’re using Sales taxes!  Sales taxes don’t count! We’re talking about INCOME taxes!”  (Note: I use exclamation marks a lot when typing out my replies from the proponents.  It seems accurate as this is most often how they try to convey a point.)

Oh, sorry… OK… I’m good with this too.  So just Income Taxes.

So now I get to vote strictly in the United States and Finland.  (Don’t ask about Finland… very uninteresting.)  I’m sure the Fin’s won’t mind my interjecting my vote anyway.  We fund the defense of their country at the expense of the American taxpayer through NATO so they can spend their money on various enlightened socialist experiments… another tangent.  Sorry.

Here’s where this gets good!  If this is the measure it provides all of us with an added bonus… this means that currently 48% of U.S. citizens cannot vote in Federal elections.  Trust me when I say that alone would dramatically change things for the better.  Who know’s how many would not qualify for States elections… but I promise the number would be very large.

“Oh no you don’t!” the proponents would say.  “You can’t disenfranchise a citizen!”

On this I agree… you cannot disenfranchise a Citizen.  A Citizen.

“No, no, no… there are people here who pay a lot of taxes in the form of payroll and social security!”  “They pay and get nothing back!”  (While I’m tempted to remind these folks that our President would disagree and might suggest, if they are paying, they are paying for the luxury of having everything done for them like the building of roads and bridges… I will not.)

So it’s the amount they pay?

“Yes!” says my weak thinking friend.

OK… I’m good with this too.  The amount we pay determines the power of our vote.

So a person’s vote should be weighted in direct proportion to what they pay in taxes.  Brilliant.  Considering the top 10% of wage earners pay 90% of the taxes in this country, while horrible, I think even that would be a better idea than giving an individual who is here… how should I say it… “on an unauthorized working vacation” the full and highest benefit a U.S. Citizen has of an equal vote.

To put it simply, entertaining any discussion of allowing input from non-citizens should be tolerated as much as it would be in any other country.  Not at all.

So “paying taxes” cannot be the litmus test for voter eligibility, Citizenship must be.

Let’s kill this stupid argument early before we have to listen to it ad nauseam.

Let’s just be honest about why the Left is interested in illegal immigrants.  It’s not that they care about their well-being.  If they did they would be focusing on the Countries of Origin to remedy the problem of their citizens fleeing to the U.S. by embracing Free-Market Capitalism, Individual Freedom and Property rights.  (Listen up Madagascar.)

No, we can’t have that.

What they actually want is to convert them into Leftist voters without citizenship.  (read Amnesty)They want to bring them out into the open, kind of, so they can confiscate Union dues from them which is then directly spent to further the careers of more Leftists.  They want to exploit them while telling them that the Union is the only entity saving them from exploitation.  They will have to be kept only semi-legal in order to keep their wages low less nobody would hire them and no Union dues would be forthcoming.  They will be told that the Union leaders are “fighting” for them but nothing will ever get better… (Sounds much like what the Left has done to the Poor Minorities in the country for decades.)  Once they are a guaranteed, monolithic, group of devoted Socialists they might allow for full Citizenship… but only if they can’t blame the opposing party for keeping them “down”.

Why ever solve a problem that is so useful?

That’s another post…

I need something on the rocks.

Sedation Vacation

When we are told that spending more money than we have is what we must do…

When being “color blind” requires us to identify our “color”…

When 40-year-old men touch our children at the airport it is called “security”…

When we see union’s destroy car companies we are told prolonging their existence is “saving” Detroit…

When facing a 16 Trillion dollar deficit and an economic meltdown a .0006% cut in spending is “draconian”…

When we are told to call illegal activity “immigration”…

When proving who you are in order to cast your vote is racist…

When getting good grades makes you “white”, not smart…

When it is considered noble to stand for certain groups having more rights than others…

When politicians forward ideas of oppression in the name of “fairness” and we’re expected to cheer…

When being Free means doing what we are told, always…

When good means bad, and bad means good…

Is it any wonder?

Is it any wonder that 1 in 10 of U.S. citizens legally take anti-anxiety drugs?

Is it any wonder that americans consume 80% of the worlds pain killers?

Is it any wonder that I drink 95% of the worlds vodka?

The U.S. could use a Sedation Vacation, I’m just afraid of what would happen if everyone sobered up at once.
