Googly, Googly… revisited… Facebooky… Facebooky…

How is anyone surprised by the “Big Reveal”, in every entendre imaginable, from Facebook that ALL OF YOUR INFORMATION WAS USED IN A WAY THAT YOU DON’T LIKE… AND THEY TOOK YOUR FRIENDS INFO TOO… BECAUSE YOU LET THEM.

How is the news?

We’ve been talking about this for over 5 YEARS!  It’s now 032118…

And, I’m always fashionably late to the party!

Where have you been?

(Update 091113: Yesterday, Google lost a similar decision to the one below.  It was on Appeal before the Ninth Circuit.  The Folks at EPIC are happy… but doesn’t the this story make more sense and a seem little less conspiratorial now that we know the NSA has been collecting all of our data and doing so with the aid of our allies?  Originally Posted 072712)

It’s unclear what, if any, penalties would be imposed on Google by Britain’s ICO or regulators in any of the 10 other jurisdictions in which the company had wrongly retained Street View data.

“We need to take a look at the data… There’s all sorts of questions we need to ask,” an ICO spokesman said, speaking on condition of anonymity because office rules prohibit him from being named in print.”

The above quote and where I decided to begin and end it may seem a little confusing, but there is a point…

Today we find out that Google has not destroyed/deleted all of the street view info it was caught collecting in Britain. Keep in mind, when I say “street view info” that includes wi-fi networks and names, e-mail addresses and various and sundry other items of information having nothing to do with a street, or the view from it.

Here’s the fun part however… Britain’s regulators, the IOC, are very “upset”. There has been aplenty “tough” language directed at Google for this blatant breach. Yes… they are terribly, terribly upset don’t you know.

While Google has apologized, it is clearly not enough for the IOC.  In all fairness it’s not enough for me either but here’s the punch line; the IOC is demanding to see the information for “forensic analysis”.  Seriously… You Brit’s are Brilliant!  “Yes, yes, I will need to see all the pornography you have so I can determine if it is actually pornography.  I will also need plenty of time to review it… alone…”

So why did I take the above quote from where I did?

Without question Google was harvesting the same information here in the U.S. that it was in Britain.  No doubt about it.  And the U.S. is watching closely what is going on across the pond… very closely.  But why?

If the IOC is successful in gaining access to the Google information for “forensic analysis” because Google has been very, very bad… then U.S. regulators will not be far behind the Google spanking bandwagon.  What red-blooded, privacy cherishing, citizen wouldn’t want Google to be punished for collecting a bunch of info it shouldn’t have?

Well… this one.  If punishing Google requires the government seeing all of the intel, I would prefer Google to get away with it and we can deal with them in the market place.   Think about this for a second, who would you rather have possessing your secrets, a private company answerable to the legal system or a government answerable to no-one?

The monster under my bed has always scared me the most by whispering “don’t worry…  I’m from the government and I’m here to help…”.  Now he’s muttering “googly… googly..” and my parents still don’t believe me.

Your freedom is directly correlated to your ability to live your life anonymously.  If you care.

Apparently, like the rest of the planet, I may just elect to drink myself to sleep.  Unlike the rest of the planet I will only do it late at night… straight from the bottle… in front of a full length mirror… crying…

NSA disguised itself as Google to spy, say reports  (link added 091213)

“…What’s Happening Right in Front of Us.”

What do you say about the self-proclaimed “Most Transparent Administration in History” when you find out they are spying on American Citizens who have done nothing other than go about their lives?

If you found a way to defend that…

Then what do you say when you find out that the few, pathetic, rules restricting the access and use of the private information collected by the NSA were removed in 2011 by that same “Most Transparent Administration in History”?

Well… they did.  Full Story: Here

I must confess that I am not surprised…

The story held nothing that I haven’t already accepted to be true.

So why am I posting this?

It was a comment.  A small comment.  A comment that must be addressed.

Does the US Constitution mean anything anylonger? Seems like so many of our elected officials have taken a pair of scissors and cut out sections they don’t like of it leaving it in a cut up pile on the floor. Change has been brought to us, I am not sure many like it however.

The short answer to your question as to whether the US Constitution means anything any longer, JonQCit is «No». Then we could have a lengthy discussion about how long it’s been this way ; my suggestion would be at least since very soon after WW II, when the US government begain initiating and/or participating in foreign wars without the Congress, as is its duty under Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution, declaring war (the last time the US Congress declared war was on 5 June 1942 on Bulgaria, Hungary, and Romania ; how many years has the US been at peace since that time ?)…

job, it’s the people fault, we have become so ideology driven we can’t see what’s happening right in front of us. (emphasis mine)
just read some comments, we have a government that is spying on us, they have reversed restrictions secretly and people still defend them, that’s why we have these problems.
It’s not JonQCit’s rhetorical question or mhenriday’s assertion.  It was the product of our government schools, maifgm, that made me feel sad.
I’m going to assume that maifgm meant “ideologically” when making his statement.
While I don’t disagree with the problems he identifies, it is not being driven by ideology which has brought us here unless he is speaking of Socialism.
In fact, it is the abandonment of Ideology and the rise of Compromise which have handed the Socialists their greatest victories.  It is exactly the Spirit of Compromise which handed them maifgm and probably the friend maifgm drinks with.  It is Bipartisanship, the Why Can’t We All Get Along mentality, that is happening right in front of us.
Depending on maifgm’s age I might not dump ton’s of derision upon his head… I suspect everything he thinks sounds nice with a little ecstasy and a techno music bed, but it is an illustration of profoundly confused thought.  It is the absence of critical thinking that must be corrected everywhere we look.  First with ourselves, then with our friends… particularly those we drink with.
Ideology is the answer.
Free-Market Capitalism is the only Ideology which protects us from Tyranny.
It’s time we embrace it.
If you don’t think so, I suspect you too are a product of our Government Schools and the intentional confusion they were paid to administer upon you.  But don’t feel bad because you’re not alone.
Because maifgm is right on one important point, “it is the people’s fault”.
However, it’s now up to you to correct it.

It’s beginning to become difficult separating the CRAZY from the REALITY.

What is going on in our Country?

Why are there so many of us, especially those who see their jobs to protect our Liberties, find no problem with any of the above?

This course of events has been underway for decades.  Our situation is not the responsibility of just one person or party…

It’s our fault for allowing it to happen over time… we have no one to blame but ourselves.

One must ask, if the advocates of such Government behavior directed at removing our Privacy, thus Liberty and Freedom, is being conducted in order to protect us from something… What is it?  What Fear must relentlessly occupy their minds that any of this will Cure?

What danger faces us that is so Profound that American Citizens MUST give up every right the U.S. Constitution says is necessary for us to live free?

This is how residents of Middle Eastern countries live every day… under a constant veil of suspicion of all things.  They fear everything, all the time.  They trust nothing, because they can’t.  Once you understand that, it becomes easy to understand why some of them genuinely believe the things they believe.  The plotting, scheming and lying is the only “truth” they know to exist.

Is this our future?

Is this Country headed in a direction that makes sense?

Your Freedom is Directly Correlated to Your Ability to Live Your Life Anonymously.

How much, if any, of that Anonymity do you still have?

Is There any Question Left?

Is there any question left that the Bill of Rights has been completely destroyed?

If you think you had a Right to Privacy (The very First Amendment) protected by you Right to not be subject to Unreasonable Search and Seizures (The Fourth Amendment) you should revisit the issue.

The Department of Homeland Security has decided it has The Right to search, copy and keep everything on your Laptop, Phone etc.  Actually… the study states they can continue to do this.

(Update 060613: NSA received phone records for ALL Verizon phone customers.

The NSA seizes every conversation, text, picture sent, person called, message to loved ones… everything… for every Verizon customer.

And that’s just what we know so far.  Elitist Progressives like Senator Lindsey Graham (R – South Carolina) believe there is no problem with keeping every American under constant surveillance.)

How much more Folks?  Watching the Corruption and Those Defending it for all to see… What exactly is the Tipping Point?

Why do We Need the DHS?

Why do we need half of these fools?

When is it enough?
