LeBron James Changed My Mind

File Photo – LeBron James

Dear Reader, I have been remiss in my support of the Hong Kong protestors.
I am typing this today to admit that after hearing LeBron James explain it all to me I have changed my mind. We have all been there… when confronted with a superior argument one has no other recourse but to admit one’s error and adopt a new position. So you can understand what I’m talking about, Mr. James’ explanation regarding His and the NBA’s position on not supporting the Hong Kong protestors is below.  (Full link here.)

“I don’t want to get into a [verbal] feud with Daryl Morey, but I believe he wasn’t educated on the situation at hand, and he spoke,” James said before the Los Angeles Lakers played the Golden State Warriors in a preseason game at Staples Center. “And so many people could have been harmed not only financially, physically, emotionally, spiritually. So just be careful what we tweet and say and we do, even though, yes, we do have freedom of speech, but there can be a lot of negative that comes with that, too.”

– LeBron James

It’s fair to say that I occasionally fall on my sword for Freedom, Free Speech and Individual Diversity when I should be more considerate when it comes to profiting off of the systematic oppression of others.  After hearing LeBron, I realize I am the problem.  I am insensitive.  I lack empathy.

I apologize.

With that in mind, compounded with my desire to repent my uneducated, naive and misguided ways, I will capitalize on my extensive background in media and marketing. I would like to offer the NBA coaches and players a few tag lines they can apply while speaking/tweeting on this issue.

1.  Assimilate Hong Kong!

2.  Oppress Hong Kong!

3.  Enslave Hong Kong!

(Runner up: 4.  Shut up and Buy Our Shoes!)

All of the above meet the “Simple, Powerful, Direct” requirement of a solid information campaign meant to clearly communicate intent and purpose.  All three may be employed so long as they are repeated at least once at every given opportunity.  You’re welcome.

I also have a few suggestions for Tibet…  but it involves renaming the region and some of it’s inhabitants “Nike”.  The Nike Lama… The Dalai Addidas… seriously… it could work.  This pitch could also be applied to Taiwan and the Senkaku islands with minor adjustments saving China the cost of creating a fresh new campaign.  Kerrwan and the Popovich Islands has a nice ring to it…

A New Professional Sports Strategy

Only Play the Games you Know you can Win!

Brilliant!

Take a Moment and Imagine how that would play out in Major League Baseball…

The NFL…

The NBA…

College Sports…

High School…

Your local Little League…

“Just Concede!”

Of course we all remember Churchill’s Famous Quote:  “Give Up, Give Up, Give Up.”

Such is the stated “Strategy” held by The Progressive Wing of the Republican Party.

This is why Leftists like Nancy Pelosi long for “the return of the Republican Party of old”…

Well no kidding. I’m sure that is a sentiment shared by the Entire Democrat Party and 80% of their “Loyal Opposition” on the Hill.

What is so ridiculous about Current Republicans such as McCain along with those who have friendships with them like Sowell and Charles Kesler is the absolute failure to comprehend Communication of Ideas.  What I mean by this is if you are telling me that you do not, in fact, agree with the Leftists then you should be the First in line at Every Given Opportunity to Communicate those differences in Ideology.  Yet your Strategy is to only fight the battles you know you can win.

I would offer that even should you lose a Battle you have gained the opportunity to Communicate Freedom and Liberty of the Individual… and maybe, just maybe a person who thought they stood in strong opposition to you might change their mind come the NEXT BATTLE.  By not fighting for Freedom and Liberty for that person who thinks you’re terrible you do nothing but reinforce whatever fantasy they foster.

You also allow the Socialists to script the narrative.

With that in mind, how much more Harmful can a Strategy be?

I have stated before; With friends like McCain who needs Enemies?  And I mean it.

The unfortunate aspect of this “Path to Victory” is it permeates the Republican Party.  The only upside are the lines are being drawn between those who subscribe to it and those who do not… which allows those of us out here paying attention to see clearly who has the heart to fight for us and who simply spew platitudes when it safe to do so.

The idea that we must forfeit fighting for some of what’s Right and Just is stupid and self-defeating.  You would think it would be simple for the Lindsey Graham’s of the world to look at where we are as a country.  It took 50-years of their “Strategy” to get us here.

I’m with Cruz on this.  As far as I’m concerned one must be either completely unaware of what this Country was Founded on, or in agreement with those on the Left to believe such a Strategy has any merit.  That is the dividing line for me.

In the end,

I’ve read Sun Tzu, and no where in that text do I find Occasionally Surrendering as a viable way to win anything.  This War is about Communicating!  And, Not Fighting is Not Communicating.  You don’t always have to “Win”.  But you’ll certainly not get the attention of the Voters by throwing your hands up in the air.

I already know what Rommel would say…

Let me go blow the dust off of Clausewitz and flip through him just in case I missed something.

(I think I’ll approach Nike and see what they think about “Just Concede” being their new slogan.  I could order up some shirts for the Senator’s Annual Softball Game.)

Jason Collins

This doesn’t deserve more than a few lines.

During this mornings “sudden” press conference President Obama said that individuals should be judged on their accomplishments not their sexual orientation.

Good so far.

President Obama then went on to say that Jason Collins was a “Hero” for openly declaring he is a homosexual.

This is where we part ways in regard to intellectual consistency.

Being Homosexual is not an achievement. It is no more a “goal reached” than being heterosexual. He did not “overcome” being a heterosexual… nor did he spend years training for this day.  It’s no different from ones skin color, height, hair color or parents.  You had nothing to do with it.  It’s not an achievement, it simply is.

President Obama might have said Jason Collins was “brave” for coming out considering the apparent anti-gay sentiment which we are finding out permeates Professional Sports…  (The only aspect of this story I find mildly interesting, as I was unaware of the level of disdain held by some.) but “Hero” is a bit much.  Declaring oneself “gay” is nothing new.  Frankly, it’s the “declaring” that is obnoxious.  When a person comes “out of the closet” there should be no one in the room to see it… in other words, no one should care.

Assigning “Hero” status to an individual due to something he had nothing to do with is disgusting. There was no “choice” in the matter for Jason. If there was “choice” involved… and deciding to be homosexual was somehow an extremely difficult choice to make and by doing so elevated him to role model status then I will stand corrected.  Do we assign “Hero” status because one is born a Man?  Woman? Black? Chinese? In New York?  In Wichita?  On a Sunday?  At noon standard time? These are all things you have no choice in.

I have mentioned before that intellectual consistency must be suspended in order to subscribe to Liberal agenda items. This is yet another example.

President Obama is losing his friends. He is losing his power. He is panicking as he watches the potency of his Presidency wane quickly into his second term. This pandering is just a symptom of the greater disease.

I’m sure Jason is a fine person. I will judge his ultimate status by his accomplishments on and off the court… not by who he chooses to sleep with.

Can we move on now?

We all have more important issues at hand.

The Left has a country to destroy…

The rest of us have a country to save.

Jason Collin’s sexuality has nothing to do with saving this country, any more than mine does.

So let’s talk about the same Press Conference where President Obama once again laments the existence of Guantanamo Prison.  His prison.  His prison he has not closed yet.  His prison he promised to close his first day in office which supposedly led many people to vote for him.  His prison he yet again “wishes” were closed but failed to do so immediately after this stupid press conference.  He is the Commander-in-Chief who is in control of this prison he hates so much.

Or… let’s talk about the use fo chemical weapons in Syria… or the complete abandonment of our diplomats in Benghazi who were left to die… or the sky rocketing costs of Obama Care… or Radical Islamic Terror on our shores…
