Why Does NSA Spying Matter?

As most of you know I’m a huge fan of Simple, Powerful and Direct. Particularly when others show the skill.

So I am moving a comment up the Post level.

Third News is responsible for this:

“It is much more complex than just the ability to know gossip -the media has done a disservice in pushing this narrative.

The mined data will profile your political slant and its use will likely mimic and mushroom the IRS’s strategy of denying organizations their tax status, slow-playing with massive paperwork, intrusive and illegal questioning, and telling organizations they may not use their right to free speech, nor protest.

First, the data (is) collected on individuals, ergo, it is presumable that the person is the target.

So what can happen? We don’t know yet but it will be possible to rate you for loyalty to the political party in charge, or for the cost-effectiveness of your healthcare, and for your ability to pay more taxes…we just don’t know.”

This is “Why it Matters”.

American Citizens should not have this as a concern… ever.  And we were designed not to.

(I made very minor edits… If I changed the intent in any way I’ll let News correct me in comments.)

We are Not listening to your Phone Calls, or reading your E-mail…

Our Computers are doing it.

So we’re not really lying… or are we?

This latest defense by Eric Holder, that “no-one in the Justice Department is listening to your phone calls” is interesting. It’s tantamount to a Tagger saying “I didn’t spray paint that wall! The Spray Can did it.”

While technically true, it does not absolve the individual who employed the TOOL used to commit the act.

Whether a human-being or a computer is “looking for patterns”, “listening” or “reading” our private correspondence is irrelevant. The act of doing so has been initiated by a Human.

These word games are what we get from Lawyers… it’s semantics combined with careful parsing of words.

It is Machiavellian.

In the Prince, Machiavelli offers the advice to his Desired Employer that the Noble should be prepared to do whatever it takes to keep control over the population. In fact, when faced with doing things to them they stand to rebel against… do it anyway, then point the finger of blame at his opponents, whomever they may be at the time.

The problem for this Administration is the last part of that tactic.  They have not been able to successfully blame their political opponents.  The public simply doesn’t believe them anymore.

This is where we are now. As of this typing there are those in the press trying to tie Bush’s name to these acts. Yes, he had a hand in much of this as did Bill Clinton with the new, at the time, spying programs of Echelon and Carnivore.

But those guys are gone. Not present. And there is one person who has the power to stop this now, the most Brilliant Protector of Civil Liberties and most Intelligent man to ever occupy the White House… President Barack Obama. In fact, he has had 5-years since his election to stop this abuse of power and intrusion into the private lives of American Citizens that he railed against a little over 5-years ago before his election.

Yet he has not. In fact, these acts have risen to a level never before exposed in our lifetimes.

We are being told that all of this is to defend ourselves against Terrorists.

Well, let me ask… who defines the term Terrorist?  Does the United States Government have an official definition so we know we don’t fit that bill?

And, considering the abuse coming to light in the IRS, who says a jilted lover or political opponent decides that you fit the description… because they happen to be the “decider” that day?

We are on Treacherous Ground here.

The Press who Love Too Much.

Battered Press Syndrome his Horrible.
They’re Victims of an Abuser they Love, an Evil they hold close.

They feel Trapped in the very relationship that is doing them irreparable harm.

In despair they look around for safety…

They don’t know where to turn and live in fear of retribution should they do anything to get away.

We watch this day in and day out from the outside, helpless…
We try to understand when they cry on our shoulder after yet another horrific episode. We listen through the sobs as they recount the stories of abuse while also proclaiming their love of the very Demon responsible. We attempt to grasp why they refuse to leave the side of the one who clearly hates them so much.

We encounter the One responsible every day, and we hold our tongue in fear of the harm that could come to our friend… and possibly us.

We want to let The Press know that we are all in this together. We want them to know that we Care.

But down deep, even though they are being abused, the abuse they have dealt us in the past secretly keeps us from being able to say it truthfully.

Sadly, these relationships often end tragically… violently… with a path of destruction and innocent victims strewn as far as the eye can see.

They are on their own.

They know it.

They will stay with Him… because they Love too Much.

“I Don’t Think Targeting is Wrong”

Acting IRS Commissioner Mr. Stephen Miller (Could actually be Eugene Levy,  Geoffrey Rush or their offspring, I’m awaiting verification on this.) , during this mornings hearing regarding the IRS targeting Conservative Groups stated unequivocally that he did not believe targeting was wrong.
Much is being made that this man was a Bush appointee.
Folks… this man is exhibiting the Cultural Mindset which resides within the Government as we know it. It doesn’t matter who appointed him. I don’t care if George Washington himself personally indorsed Mr. Miller. He is an example, just an example, of what is wrong with the IRS.  I’ll leave alone the fact the George Bush, pick one, was not a rock ribbed Constitutional Conservative.
Bear in mind, Mr. Miller is just one of the players in this scandal and he wasn’t in charge during the peak of these targeted investigations of groups based on politics as determined by those in the IRS.
There are many more people involved here. Many, many more.

It is also amazing, and worth paying attention to, how much the IRS and apparently this White House depends on the news media for being alerted to issues which they are a part of. Frankly, it should cause every American to shake their head and wonder if anyone works in Washington D.C., and if so do any of them possess cell phones. The lack of communication and reliance on outside third parties to inform them what is happening within their own departments is astounding.

Please… please pay attention to this. This is Bloated, Over-reaching, Unaccountable and Oppressive Bureaucracy on display.

This attitude permeates all agencies within our Government.

This is not just about the IRS.
