It’s Long and Hard…

…to Understand.

I am not a Conspiracy Theorist.  At least not the kind involving dark smoke-filled rooms, with big round tables, and a collection of old robed rich guys with heavy accents sitting around plotting the control of the World.

I believe this movie fodder is ridiculous for a couple of reasons.

First… it requires secrets, and a number of people keeping them.  The simple fact is every time you tell someone your secret it becomes exponentially less likely to remain so.

Second… The old robed rich guys with the heavy accents don’t need the dark rooms.  Secret Cabals just have no reason to exist.  They’ll do whatever they’re going to do right out in the street, in front of God and everybody.

The folks who rise to power have realized through experience that doing things to people who are not interested in having things done to them only requires complexity.  It requires many levels of separation between the person in charge and those who do the doing.  The only other factor needed is a shared ideology to mold the actions of all involved.  That’s it.  (It also helps to control the branch in charge of enforcing the law… but I digress.)

The reason this works is due to the short attention span of the public… and sadly, a Press with an equality short attention span seasoned with a lack of interest.

Let me demonstrate with one of the most fundamental issues that no one will touch… ever…

“Why are Unions interested in raising the Minimum Wage when no Union Member is subject to it?  And why do they expressly send out otherwise unemployable, dirty, non-union, hippies to get me to sign petitions to raise it?”

– Well, the Unions have a base wage which is negotiated in their contracts.  It is the least amount of money their members will work for and is correlated directly to the Minimum Wage through a formula… BLAH, Blah, blah, bla…

See?  I lost your attention.

It doesn’t take too many layers of separation, or complexity, to lose the interest of the typical voter.

This current crop of scandals is demonstrating this for all to see.

These are not conspiracies in the movie sense… but they are certainly conspiracies of the dictionary definition.

But beyond the legality or illegality found in these actions by government, it illustrates a behavior.  It shows us how it’s done.

And, once we understand how it’s done it leads us to a question this Administration really does not want asked.

First, however, let me ask you a question.  Isn’t there an aspect of the IRS scandal that is rattling around in the back of your head unresolved?  An inkling of something being not quite right?  Haven’t you asked yourself why ONLY 60% of Americans believe it to be a huge problem when Government uses it’s power to oppress segments of the population it disagrees with?  Do you wonder why 100% of us don’t see the danger when government changes hands on a regular basis?

It’s that last question I want you to focus on.

If you, like most of us, believe Government is transitory and the benefit of that is transparency albeit delayed at times, you’d only be half right.  And, a number of educated Socialists know this.

It is true, that within specified times, we get to voice our opinion of our representatives and attempt to fire them… but this dynamic does not apply to the bureaucrats.  It does not apply to the government employees… just like the ones who work at the IRS.  (It goes for every Department, but let’s stay focused.)

I am willing to bet that right now, as I pound this out, a primary topic of discussion at the White House is one Lois Lerner.

Why?  Because if someone doesn’t take the fall for the malfeasance at the IRS soon, in order to take the focus away from the scandal, Lois Lerner will become a topic of much discussion in regard to how she can refuse to leave/step down/retire/get lost in the woods/fall off a cannon in Fort Marcy Park.  Which then leads one to the question, “Who’s in charge?” and “Why can’t these people be fired?”.  Once you go there, you enter the world of Unions and Unelected Officials.

Finally, the epiphany occurs when you realize that the bureaucrats/government workers, the “Doers”, NEVER change.  And, if they are all of a specific political persuasion, or subscribe to a single governing ideology… then government is not transitory.  In this case, the bureaucrats/government workers, the “Doers” are Liberal Progressives… and they know they run things no matter who is in office.

This is an “Uh-Oh” moment.  A moment this Liberal Administration does not want occurring on its watch.  Better that this point arise during a Conservative Administration so it can be dismissed as… say it with me… a “Conspiracy Theory”.  Well Done!

I have touched on this previously, and more concisely, in Very Open and Very Public!

To reiterate, we already have term limits for politicians which are called elections.  What we really need is Term Limits for the Bureaucrats/Government Workers.

But alas, without the Press doing their job, to get people to understand this may be Long and Hard.  And, when we are faced with that, we most often get screwed.
