Guns, Guns, Guns…

…and who owns them.

I’ve been paying attention, with unusual interest, to the debate surrounding the tiny newspaper in New York that released the names of firearms permit holders.

Clearly this was political.  Clearly it was legal.

OK… so why would anyone be upset?  Aside from the blatantly political move by the “objective” press….

1.  There is an argument that gun owners do not want “bad guys” to know they have a gun in their home.

I’m not sure I understand this argument… If I’m not home my weapons are secure.  If I’m home, I’m secure.  No problem.  I hope the “bad guys” all know… that’s kind of the point.

2.  There is an argument that law-abiding Liberals living around those who have publicly applied for, and obtained, firearms permits are a threatened by those permit holders.

Again, I’m not sure I understand this argument as law-abiding Gun Owners are not the ones committing crimes.  They are also connected in many cases of stopping criminal acts in progress.  (We can discuss who is the “first line of defense” in comments if needed.  I welcome it.  I have also heard Liberal talking heads say they would not want their kids in my home if they know I have guns… well I too do not want your kids in my home, soooo… we’re okay then, right?)

But there is one clear point here.

Yes, this exposure was intended to “shame” those who own guns by the Leftist Newspaper.  But it has turned out to be only shameful to the Leftist permit holders.  This fact should bring a smile to our collective gun owning faces.

You have to remember that to a Liberal, laws are for other people… not the Liberals who propose them.  The only people on that list of names who were “shamed” were those individual Liberals who champion Gun Control laws… for the Little People.   It is fashionable to be in favor of gun bans… being more outraged over every shooting than your neighbor… shaking your head in disdain over the proliferation of guns in America, etc.

This presents itself in the Righteousness associated with their Democrat/Socialist circle of friends by being in favor of all and any Gun Control.  (These are also the same people who if offered a sign for their front yard proclaiming “This Home is Proudly Gun Free” would refuse to put it up.  I know this because I have personally offered to hammer it into the ground myself…)

However, It becomes difficult to explain to your “Common Sense-Mainstream” Liberal neighbors that you too are a “Common Sense-Mainstream” Liberal when you have been outed as a gun-toting freak.

This is why there has been quick and focused amount of negative attention applied to this matter by the rest of the Leftist Media… because they’re well aware that a number of their members happen to have concealed carry permits and reside in New York and the surrounding boroughs, counties and states.  The very leftist New York Media who are NOT cheering this latest exposure of permit holders, know full well they are on deck for the next round of exposures.

So once again, the Hypocrisy of the Left is what is at issue here.  Nothing New.

Don’t be distracted by the first two arguments and pay closer attention to who is being offended and positioning themselves as the suddenly new champions of the second amendment and personal privacy.  You will find a growing number of Democrats whose voting records demonstrate their brand new, previously undocumented, love of both.  They have images to protect… don’t you know.

(Update: Gawker has fired the next shot by producing a list of permit holders in NYC.  Hilarious!)

It’s worth noting that this story occurred several years ago… and very shortly after Gawker released the NYC list the ‘releasing of lists’ suddenly stopped.  It was not made illegal to release these lists… it just ‘mysteriously’ stopped.  Funny how Leftist Liberals do not like it when you turn on the lights.

Mr. Khan,

I hope this letter finds you well.

I agree with you that everyone world over should read, and more importantly make an effort to understand, the U.S. Constitution. Having studied it myself, I agree with your plea and suggest we begin with every U.S. Lawyer.

I would add that particular attention should be paid to the first ten amendments otherwise known as The Bill of Rights… A Bill of Inalienable Rights… The Rights possessed by U.S. Citizens which cannot be taken away, ever, without destroying the Founding Document you waved in your hand.

It was indeed the correct venue to make such a plea, I can think of none better.

I Commend your Son’s service in protecting that very Document which your preferred Ideology see’s as limiting all of the things you want to do for/to us.

I’m incredibly sorry your son lost his life in his principled endeavor.

I am grateful there exist people like your son who do those things the rest of us are either unwilling, unable, or have done so already, in the defense of the Greatest Experiment in Self Governance the World has Ever Known.

He was clearly a great man… and your personal loss cannot be fully understood by either candidate for president.  Neither of them have experienced such pain.

If your Son’s sacrifice is not to be in vain, Genuinely Understanding American Exceptionalism and Enlightenment Governing Theory is desperately needed by your audience. But as you made clear, it starts with reading the Document, and only then can anyone begin to comprehend your son’s sacrifice for our Freedom.

The Universe is just not smiling on his best laid plans and political circuses.

As the story states, the President knew all along that he would not have enough votes to pass the Hopped Up Gun Control Bill.  He also thought he would have our undivided attention with which to shame all of us for supporting the Second Amendment which protects the First.

Whoops.

Things are really, really, really not going as Planned…

Reporting on The Marathon Bombing and CNN’s errant rush to report the Bombers subsequent arrest has consumed all the oxygen in the room.

This is one of those rare moments when you might think someone is looking out for us… in a sad and twisted kind of way, but none the less…

Tonight I’m raising a glass to the Universe, which may be semi-benevolent after all.

Political Risk Taking

“Let me tell you this as a politician. Politicians will not take some risks unless the people push them to take some risks.” – Barack Obama 032113, Jerusalem.

(Aside from the ridiculous logic behind such a statement… if “the people” are demanding it then where is the “risk”?  That’s not the point.)

This message was, I believe, a genuine observation. It is a disappointing observation from a Socialist who has not had a recent run of luck fomenting unrest and the “grassroots” swell of discontent over extremely important Leftist issues like ridding the United States of guns… convincing the population that slowing the growth rate of government spending is a “cut”… having the message that “the United States does not have a spending problem” being received with anything but laughter if not outright disbelief that such a disconnect can exist in government.

The Editor of the Jerusalem Post is quoted as saying “We do not know why he is here…”

Allow me to help the esteemed Editor out. President Obama is in Israel because he needs “a victory”. He needs to get away from so many recent failures and “do something big and worldly”. He needs to re-establish is “cred’s”.

Israel is being used to take the focus off of a failed Gun Ban, His Sequester Plan that could not be blamed on Republicans, Cuts that are anything but… and no open protests from the streets demanding anything close to Socialism.  Where is Occupy?  Where are the mass protests in front of “Big Banks”?  Where are the riots, aside from the mean streets of Chicago… and then only minorities killing minorities?

This is theater. A distraction presented to you from a President that is fully aware time is running out for his Fellow Travelers to push through their horrible ideas.

This is an attempt at a “Reset” domestically so he can return from the Middle East as the “President of the World” and hope that we have forgotten what he has been up to for the last several years. He desperately desires a blank slate… or at least softer resistance, with the aim to get some of his Progressive goals codified.

We are coming into summer… A time for comfortable protest.

This is it folks. The time is now.  If it’s going to get done, on his watch, it must happen this summer and fall.  The upcoming elections demand it.  Political Risk Taking demands it.

Expect to see your local community organizer arranging civil unrest on a street near you.

Expect to see extra tight camara shots of a few people while being told of “huge protests”.

Expect to hear interviews of “people on the street” who, out of a healthy sense of self-preservation, you would never get close enough to hear in any other circumstance.

And of course… Expect to hear Liberal politicians who are not up for re-election in the next two years.  (Like, Bloomberg and McCain…  Don’t look for Senator Susan Collins as she is up in 2014.  She’ll  suddenly be embracing “Conservative” issues that don’t really challenge the Establishment… oh wait, Breaking News…  She has decided to jump on the Benghazi Bandwagon now that the public has forgotten, the Secretary of State has changed and the Republicans have zero leverage to get real answers.  Timing is everything.)

Anyway… They (Obama) only have a little over six more months to get it all done.  Or at least as much as possible.

Break out the cooler and lawn chairs.  Should make for cheap entertainment.  This crap is fun to watch.

You’ve got PTSD.

The current discussions regarding the shooting death of SEAL Sniper Chris Kyle have not strayed from the subject of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD.

From some background, War has always been an extremely ugly, difficult and often horrendous experience for soldiers since the dawn of time. This experience has tended to change an individuals mindset which can present in many ways ranging from nightmares to overt paranoia. Many of the individuals having such problems have historically chosen to “self-medicate” though the use of whatever was available, often alcohol. After Vietnam we as a nation became determined to help these people with this problem.

But now there is a push to get as many Veterans as possible onto the roles of those suffering from PTSD. Part of this is good intentions and a genuine desire to help… part is that the programs are funded by the number of individuals utilizing the services… and part seems to be something else which is becoming evident during this latest Gun Control debate.

We are once again in the middle of a debate on gun control here in the United States. Why the debate exists is because we were founded with the intent the government was not to be trusted. That’s what the Second Amendment is about… not Skeet Shooting. But there are people out there who simply cannot imagine the government ever doing anything bad to its citizens. (I will allow the fact that the government has already spent us into oblivion to slip by…)
So this refreshed debate is now becoming a discussion regarding “Universal Background” checks. These background checks are offered as necessary because… well, I’m not sure why as they would not have kept the weapons out of the hands of the latest shooters. But an integral part of these “new and improved” background checks would be the addition of medical records of psychologically impaired individuals with the idea that they should not own guns.

It is no secret that veterans are included on the list of individuals DHS profiles as possible homegrown terrorists.
Stay with me…
So how better to disarm those who would be most effective in resisting tyrannical government than to start with preventing our veterans from arming themselves legally.  Once PTSD is included in the class of psychologically impaired and would throw a flag during a “Universal” Background check they will be made criminals if they choose to arm themselves.

It will not be difficult for the U.S. to enter these folks into the database as the services they take advantage of are administered by the Veterans Administration (VA).  They are already on a list.

Let’s understand something… there are millions of people out there with “PTSD”.  There always will be, as bad things happen to people… and always will.  But just because someone was raped, in a bad car crash, mugged, lost a child or was in battle should not prevent them from owning a firearm.  In several of the above examples owning a firearm might actually aid in recovery.  But the focus on PTSD, to the exclusion of other possible motives in the Chris Kyle shooting has me concerned.  But this is not a new concern… I have watched with interest the evolution of these renewed calls for citizen disarmament.  It seems to me that there is a strange urgency to make sure everyone is “on the record” as having some kind of disorder.

Could it be possible that the final motivation of increasing the roles of those diagnosed with PTSD is to ultimately limit the ability of our returning warriors to possess firearms?  And if they do, make sure there are accurate records as to their whereabouts and what weapons they have if any?  Could it be just another piece of the puzzle?  Little by little our rights are erased with what appears to be reasoned arguments made with the stated goal of “saving the life of a single child” when it is actually about dismantling those parts of the U.S. Constitution that limit Government and prevent those “with only the best of intentions” to do TO us what they feel “best”?

The power to resist is a mighty deterrent to those who know their ideas are unpopular.  History is replete with examples.

I have to confess… I don’t like any of this.

In the end, We lost good men in Chris Kyle and Chad Littlefield.  We lose many good people every day.  We must make sure our sorrow does not prevent us from recognizing what preserves our Freedoms… and what does not, and will not.

The ones we haven’t lost are some of the finest citizens this country has.  Don’t allow our Veterans to be marginalized by those who never appreciated them in the first place.

End The Lunacy!

Ban Lunatics!

Clearly we have an insanity problem here in the United States. Insane people are committing horrible acts of violence from drowning their children to shooting up schools. This madness must be stopped!

Are we going to simply accept this type of crazy violence as the norm?

Are we going to sit idly by and allow these people to continue victimizing the innocents when we have the power to stop them?

I propose we outlaw insanity and get these insane people off of the streets. Even if a very small number of these people commit such horrid acts removing all of them from society can only be considered beneficial.

If you have a Lunatic in your home, it’s only a matter of time before someone gets hurt.

Some folks leave theirs loaded and lying around.  Seems like a waste of alcohol…

I’ve even heard of people keeping Lunatics under their bed within easy reach of the children… unbelievable.

All of that “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” crap is so outdated, it’s over 200 years old for God’s sake.  The founders lived in a world that could never have foreseen the level of insanity we have today.  We need to change the founding documents or… get rid of them altogether.  It’s about time.

What civilized purpose do crazy people serve? Sure, you can go visit that lunatic family member once a year or so but what “real” need do we have for them? You can’t protect your self with one… you can’t count on them assisting you in finding food if needed… they’re not even good for sport or entertainment. Well, other people’s crazy family can supply some level of entertainment, but would that really be missed and outweigh the general well-being of the world population?

So… Ban Lunatics!  If not for everyone’s safety, do it for our children!
