There is an urban myth out there that needs to be addressed.
“Binge drinking is bad.” No, wait. Wrong one.
“Compromise is good.”
If you’re a product of the public schools (like I am) it should be expected you believe we should all get along. You probably think our elected representatives should be having dinner together, holding hands and making out in the back of dark movie theaters. You might even think it is GOOD when they all get together and create legislation effecting the rest of us.
In other words, you might believe passing lots of bills is a terrific way to judge their productivity. You think the government should “do something”… You might have been taught that the founders of this country wanted our leaders to strip down and embrace each other every time they met so they could create lots of really cool law. If any of this rings true for you, what you “know” is wrong. You should demand a refund on that free public education.
Here’s the truth, our system of government was designed specifically to be slow, cumbersome and rarely produce laws. It was created to make sure no single branch could run rampant over the others with this purpose in mind. It was designed for a fight… over everything… in the hopes that whatever came out was only what was absolutely necessary. Less was more. Nothing getting done was fine, if not preferred. (I’ve floated this idea around the house but have not had much traction.)
We have come a long way from that original intent. Over the last 100 years we have entitled our politicians to do whatever they want. They have learned to routinely create law outside of the Constitution because they know that the odds are no-one will challenge it. And, if their law does get challenged it will take too long and the American people will lose interest, or more often think they are owed whatever the law might “give” them.
These same politicians also know they can slow down the process of any legal challenge by appointing judges who also don’t care what limitations the Constitution puts in place. Such judges then present their rulings utilizing previous unconstitutional rulings they or their fellow travelers passed down earlier. Amazingly, they are also not above using foreign law for validation… which I’m very sure the Founding Fathers did not intend. The fact that we revel in our lack of understanding and promote such behavior in our leaders should be frightening. It has brought us to a very scary place. Haven’t you wondered why alcohol sales are up? We’re frightened, but too uninformed to know why. It’s like a horror movie where the person about to get killed runs around the house and turns all the lights… off.
There has been a determined movement over the last 80 years to position the U.S. Constitution as too restrictive. (Our current president is on the record promoting this very idea.) But you will most often find it repeated by the “open-minded” who have not taken the 5 minutes needed to read it, let alone try to discuss and understand it. (They don’t need to read it… their hearts tell them what they need to know… what’s scary about that is they vote…) These are also the people who think we should all give each other big wet sloppy kisses… all the time. To them, getting along to “help the country” sounds so nice it requires no further exploration on their part.
To make things worse, there are too many people who want to be led and then insist you must be led as well. These people have found a home on both sides of the aisle. The Founders were aware this would always be a reality. The defense they gave us against such people was an extremely well-defined and very restrictive document, that could be changed, in other words amended, if needed… but it would take an act of congress. (Yes, that’s where the phrase came from.)
What it comes down to is that you have two sides to choose from. One side subscribes to individual freedom and one does not. What makes one side somewhat sinister is that it wants to control you with “the best of intentions”. Bear in mind, those who believe the sheep need to be led never seem to count themselves among the sheep….
So there must always be a war between those who know you are too stupid to make decisions for yourself (Statists/Socialists) and those of us who think you are the only person who knows what’s best for you. (Free-market Capitalists) If you give it a moment of thought, does it make sense that a person who subscribes to individual freedom be buddies with a person who believes in the soft slavery of statism? It’s really as simple as that. The line in the sand is Force.
In conclusion, we are not supposed to get along. We are not supposed to compromise our individual freedoms. Ever.
If you need proof, compromise with Socialists is what got us here today… bankrupt, having our e-mail and phones call tapped, “intelligence agents” looking at our daughters cell phone pictures and Facebook pages while your grandmother is getting molested at the airport. And the useful idiots continue begging for more Bipartisanshitt…

If (They retained them… this was from 2014 but remains true.) the Republicans pull out Majorities in Both Houses…
Expect a renewed Scream for Bipartisanship to be heard ’round the World.
If you listen closely it is already starting.
Here’s how this goes;
Leftists gain power in two or more Branches of Government and they do whatever they can to move the United States closer to the Socialist Utopia of their Dreams.
Once Opposition to the Liberal Left gains enough power to prevent the Socialists from Moving Forward… the Leftists cry for Compromise and ‘Working Together’.
(You must come to terms with the fact that Socialists make up the Entirety of the Democrat Party and a Majority of the Republican Party in order to fully understand what I’m saying here.)
And as I have stated in the past, any compromise with Socialism is a Win for Socialism. And they’ve been Winning in America for over 100-years.
The Progressives will continue to Plea for Hand-shaking, Golf Outings and Communal Lunches with their supposed Opponents right up until they regain the Power they Previously possessed.
Then it Starts all over Again.
I will refer you to Bipartisanshitt for my full opinion on this ridiculous cycle.
When we support “Getting Along”, we are supporting the Whole Sale Destruction of America as it was Founded. We are Abandoning your Freedom and Liberty.
Working ‘Across the Aisle’ only gives the Party of Socialism what it wants… just a little slower than it wants it.
Look for this Hogwash coming to a news broadcast near you.
And when you do, remember that Compromise is what got us here.
I might just start a Drinking Game revolving around the Cry for Compromise. But being perpetually intoxicated could be a bit much even for me. Although….

Or, why the Left Hates Logic.
Frank Luntz of Focus Group Fame, Displayed his Establishment Credentials several nights ago by once again informing all of us that The American People want Politicians ‘who can cross both aisles and unite the government to get things done.’
This is where supposedly intelligent people display their ignorance of, or complete disdain for, Logic.
All Giraffes are Animals… but not all Animals are Giraffes.
I would like to take this opportunity to address Mr. Luntz directly.
Dear Mr. Luntz,
No, Many of us out here are not interested ‘In Getting Things Done’ if it means continuing down the path of Socialism.
I will take the liberty and speak on behalf of many of us out here. The Politicians we ‘want’ are those that STOP the seemingly ceaseless slide into Democratic Socialism. The Politicians we ‘want’ are those that care less about their Party and more about the Constitution of the United States. The Politicians we ‘want’ are those that are more concerned about protecting Us from Government than protecting Government from Us.
Sir, I recognize we are a minority in the World. However, I would offer that this is what makes The United States of America Exceptional.
We were created as a bottom up Government. We were built upon a Governing Theory placing the Individual as Paramount. We are a country where the Freedom and Liberty of every single Human Being is supposed to be Sacred above all else.
I wish to return to that Paradigm of Enlightened Brilliance.
We have wondered far afield from the Founders intent. We have been overrun by those Elitist Administrators who know they are right about everything without the trouble of demonstration or reflection. We have dishonored the Founders and Every Man who gave all to protect their Vision.
For all intent and purpose the Socialists have won.
That being said, Mr. Luntz, I do not wish for more of what got us here. I do not wish for the perpetual growth of Crony Socialist and Fascist Government. I do not long for Bipartisanshitt, Compromise and Handshaking between those I send to Government and those whose drive is to turn us into every other Social Democracy designed to Control their Populations from the Top Down. I do not wish for a single Politician who fails to see Socialism for the Deadly Poison it is.
Mr. Luntz, I respectfully ask you to cease including me in the ‘group’ of those who want politicians ‘to get things done’. I ask this because I strongly suspect what I wish ‘to be done’ is very, very different from you wish to be done.
Regards,
Mike

“There are two sides to every issue. One side is right and the other is wrong, but the middle is always evil.”
This is a quote from Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged.
And, it’s correct.
The Left has spent an inordinate amount of time and energy demonizing the concept of “seeing things in Black and White”. (Followed quickly by telling you that you shouldn’t talk about religion and politics during “polite” conversation.) The reason for this is Leftist Progressives know their victories depend on compromise, ignorance, or both, because their demands viewed outright, and understood, would always be rejected.
Socialists realize you must be “nudged” in the direction they want you to go… that is, when they lack the ability to Force you in that direction.
As Rand has explained, seeing things in Black and White has always been equated with seeing things in terms of Good and Evil. If you cannot see things this way then you have not spent enough time thinking about your premises… in other words, the foundation of exactly what you believe. This exercise alone will clarify your thinking. You might find yourself being a Socialist… hopefully not, but at least you will get closer to the truth.
Once you have given the proper amount of thought to an issue you arrive at the Right decision and the Wrong decision. Everything “In the Middle” is simply a compromise with the Wrong Decision.
This is why “Bipartisanshitt” and Moderates, such as Establishment Republicans like Paul Ryan, John McCain and Karl Rove, who wail “why can’t we all get along” are truly the misguided among us. The Governing Theories of Individual Freedom and Control over the Individual are mutually exclusive. They are oil and water. They do not mix. They cannot be mixed.
Compromise is why we are Broke and Printing Money as fast as we can.
Compromise is why past Congresses have run up the bill well past our ability to pay.
Compromise is why we are fighting against the last piece of the Socialist puzzle which is Obama Care.
Compromise is why Government is in every part of our lives.
Compromise is why the Government is listening to our phone calls and reading our mail.
Compromise is why we have lost our Right to Privacy… and by extension, our Freedom.
Either Embrace Evil… or Reject it. But don’t Compromise with it.
Getting Along has Got us Here.

Remember your Fight stops at the Primaries.
Anything after that becomes self-destructive.
However, don’t think for one second that Rove et al. fail to recognize this fact as the only Rational way forward and aren’t trying to game it intending to keep themselves and the McCain’s of the World in Power. (The Republican Establishment and “Republican’s In Name Only – RINO’s” rely on you listening to People like Rove. I have expressed my feeling regarding Rove in the Past. No need to run over that horse again, and again.)
The Establishment’s desire to remain in Power is certainly not lost on me.
So I understand why they would not support TEA Party types like Cruz, Lee and Paul.
But an attack came from an unexpected place today. And, I need to address it.
Dr. Sowell is being hailed by some in the Establishment for “attacking” Ted Cruz.
It is Rare indeed that I disagree with the Legendary Thomas Sowell…
But this is one of those times.
Apparently Dr. Sowell is upset with Ted Cruz for “forcing” a vote on the Debt ceiling that demanded Certain Republicans to “go on the record”. He is also upset with the overall approach Cruz has adopted to make Republicans state overtly through their actions what exactly they believe in.
In response to Dr. Sowell I would say “Tough!”. It has been the Republicans constant effort to run away from Ideological stances and instead embrace Bipartisanshitt and Compromise. I shouldn’t have to remind any of you that very behavior is what has landed the country where it is today.
While I agree that an Individual’s performance should be weighed in totality, being “on the record” is the only metric we can use when weighing said Individual. I believe Dr. Sowell would be better served demanding Politicians possess a firm Ideological Foundation, preferably one born of the Enlightenment, and not what they have now which are Cardboard Castles built on Sand.
That being said, Dr. Sowell has a point once we head into a General Election. Just enough Unity is required to get us to the next Primary.
So Break out the Clothespins.
You’re going to need them because you’ll be faced with voting for people who fail to measure up.
Just remember that another Primary is right around the corner. And that is where the work must be done.
This should not be misconstrued to mean Incumbent Politicians who have behaved badly yet appear to be slightly better than their Primary Opponent should be left in office. Quite the contrary. There is a tangible benefit to voting out a Republican who may be only slightly better than their challenger as judged by their actions. That benefit is the lesson of Measurement and Punishment. Keep in mind, the person just voted in, while possibly a lessor candidate, learns that lesson as well… as do other Incumbents across the Nation… and it will go a long, long way in regard to how they Represent us . This works because they become fully aware they could be next.
Primaries are an Extremely Important part of the Electoral Process.
Primary Elections have been intentionally diminished in the American Mind over many decades. The preferred paradigm that has been fostered by the Establishment offers a sense of Job Security for Incumbents with the assurance that their parties will not support, with votes, money or influence, Primary Challengers regardless of what that Politicians Constituency desires. This Destructive Promise must be removed from the process if we’re ever to return to the Nation our Founders intended us to be. Clearly those Republicans who have surrounded themselves with the trappings of Power and Influence as a result of holding an office for an extended period of time would not agree…
Again… “Tough!”.
However, Stop There!
Because once the Primaries are over, we should never voluntarily Fall on Our Sword.
Even Dr. Sowell seems to agree…
and He remains one of my Hero’s.

(Updated at bottom… 040413)
It is not a mystery as to why The Department of Homeland Security has put an order in for 1.6 Billion rounds of ammunition.
This has been the plan from the beginning.
By doing so, they create an artificial shortage (Market Distortion) which does two things.
First, it creates a shortage of ammunition.
Second, it forces the price of ammunition higher which further limits the ability for individuals to afford it.
So why would they do this?
Because it’s always been about the bullets.
All of the “Gun Ban” hysteria has never been about the guns… it has always been about what you put in them.
Control the bullet… Control the gun. (You have the Right to bear Arms, just not Bullets. Tee, hee, hee… the Liberals are always too clever by half.)
Those who dream of an unarmed populace see clearly that the average U.S. Citizen is not going to give up the their guns. So a “more reasonable approach” and “compromise” would be to put new legal limits on ammunition. If you doubt me, take a look at the latest polls and the questions that have suddenly been appearing on them… someone thinks of the questions, right? These are called “trial balloons“.
This 1.6 Billion round order is an attempt (a very succesful one) to slow down the acquisition of ammunition long enough for the Gun Control Folks to get you to see the light of a reasonable compromise. A Compromise consisting of new laws affecting ammunition… amounts, types, prices, registries, licenses to purchase etc.
It has already been pointed out that DHS can’t possibly use all 1.6 Billion rounds in our lifetime… short of an all out domestic conflict, and that would require the by-in of a great number of people who probably would not think it a very good idea.
The Progressives in this country are Shameless. And Dishonest. And Sinister. And in full knowledge of what they are doing.
(In my experience, the U.S. Government is notorious for suddenly cancelling orders. There is no recourse for the producer. But if you’re an ammunition producer the very last client you want to make angry is the U.S. Government. So you will do exactly as asked and begin reserving the amounts of ammunition requested… no question.)
So there’s your answer…
Now stop brewing up Black Helicopters and go stop these Socialists from getting the “newer, gentler gun control laws” they truly crave.
Controlling the ammunition is no compromise… it was the goal from the start.
Update: 040413 Or I could be wrong… from Breitbart – “The Great DHS Ammunition Stockpile Myth“. But keep in mind… to create a market distortion does not require, in this case, an actual purchase by the Government. All that is required is the release of these numbers combined with an already, and appropriately so, concerned populace with a Department that intentionally drags its feet in delivery logical and reasoned answers. I will stand by my assertion that there is intent. Tom Stilson and I might have to agree to disagree.
