And I Thought I had Enough to Worry About…

Is There Anything Worse than something that gets too Big to Deal With and needs our Immediate Attention?

Big Oil, Big Banks, Big Bird and now Big Vagina.  All Big Issues for the Leftists.

I happen to agree with facets of each of these.

Big Oil…  Clearly government involvement in the Oil Industry from ridiculous regulations, barriers to entry and tax payer subsidies must go.  But this must be applied to the Energy Sector as a whole which sweeps up a darling of the Left… “Green Energy”.  It is always interesting to hear politicians act as if alternative energy projects would cease to exist if taxpayer funds didn’t directly subsidize the dreams of the Utopians.  Why I find this inane is if there were ever an organization that desired deeply to not be held hostage by fossil fuels it’s our military.  And, from my undisclosed location I have a direct view of many of those “green energy” projects paid for by your taxes… the military has conducted these for decades.  My point here, they don’t need more money… the experiments will not stop… and when it’s ready the military and the market will embrace it.

Big Banks…  Without question Big Banks had a huge part in destroying the U.S. Housing Market and the subsequent Global Economic Meltdown, Collapse of the EU and the overall state we now find ourselves in.  The Big Banks Directly Responsible were Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac… Government banks… which is why nothing will ever happen.  Nothing.  The Occupiers can continue not bathing for as long as they would like, nothing will happen.  The first time a Goldman Sachs banker, or JP Morgan banker, or any banker is pulled up before a court the connection will immediately be made to the government.  Not only will it be made to the government, it will be made in an easy, direct, way the public will be able to understand.  And we cannot have that, can we?

Big Bird… The media property that allows PBS to exist.  If Big Bird is a Victim of anything, it’s PBS.  This property has immense value… in the free market.  The bidding war to purchase Sesame Street would be fun to watch.  The employees would be superstars in a way they could never have imagined.  The franchise would explode.  The idea that losing the 5% of funding Sesame Street receives from the taxpayers is paramount to its survival takes for granted the public’s ignorance.  And, it works.  It’s genuinely sad for all of us.

Big Vagina… Now I’m confronted with a War on Women.  It appears this War started anew when Sandra Fluke made an impassioned plea that a friend of hers needed taxpayer dollars because she could not afford the Lamborghini of birth control… the $3000 a year version.  I mean, who would want to be seen in Wal-Mart?  While birth control might only be $110 a year, Wal-Mart is a bastion of dirty, toothless, conservative, non-union shoppers.  Who could possibly tolerate that?  So, pony up taxpayers!  This got limited play… thus had limited value… so Abortion was thrown out there (of which I’m Pro-Choice… just for the record), but also didn’t seem to get the desired traction with women.  The Left has always had success with the abortion issue because they have been able to position opponents as wanting to use “force”.  I, like the Socialists, am surprised that this hasn’t been more effective.  The only explanation I can come up with is the electorate is waking up to the idea that this is only area where the Leftist don’t approve of “force”, so… next up is Equal Pay.

While anecdotal, I can tell you the industries I have been associated with for many years have been dominated by women.  Most of those I hold in esteem.  Many of the highest earners were women.  Of my female peers most are still paid far more than me.  I know, I know… the statistics tell a different story.  But having “grown up” around professional women and having conversations sans political desires, I found the women consistently smarter than the men.  They chose the positions they occupied because they assigned value to the intangibles such as flexibility and limited work hours.  Not only did many of the women I knew want to have kids, they wanted to spend time with them and raise them… how stupid can you be right?  However, They didn’t expect their employer to keep their job vacant while they did this, nor did they expect to make as much as the idiot who worked from 6am to 10pm Mo-Su.  It has always been my contention that women have run the world since the beginning of time and will do so till the end of time.  As more Women forgo family we see the pay levels evening out.  If you want to sprint to the finish-line of statistical nirvana, figure out a way for men to get pregnant.  You would be surprised at how many would embrace such a chance.  (I also find it interesting how many of the high earning women I know still expect their mate to make more than they do… seems strange if parity is the only sign of equality as well as the Utopian dream.  I think a similar demand from Men would be greeted will howls, but who knows.)  Finally, pay disparities exist not just for women… but also for men.  I have always been aware that the joker across the hall can, and often did, make more money than me.  I never considered it the government’s responsibility to “even the playing field” as it’s not their job.  It’s my job.  So I would ask to be paid more, and if that failed I would find a new job of my choosing.  I exercised The Economic Principle of Substitution.

Anyway, it’s clear I don’t warrant special legal rights such as retroactive Class Action Status provided by the Lily Ledbetter Act because I don’t make up 51% of the population.

(Note: Men top the list in every category of violent crime victims save spousal abuse and rape.  Considering women make up 51% of the population… and given this statistical disparity… any of my Socialist readers have a government solution they would like to offer?  Should we collectively work to raise the incidences of crimes perpetrated on women to 51%, or should we assign special status to men and send the majority of taxpayer dollars to reduce violence against men, and men only, until there is parity?  This is the logic the Left holds up as enlightened. But I digress.)

What I find disturbing about this election cycle is the absence of my personal favorite “Big”.

Big Government…  the Cause of the above Big’s plus Big Sugar, Big Corn, Big Energy, Big Unions, Big EPA, Big OSHA, Big Healthcare, Big Insurance, Big Fat Kids, Big Education.  Big Government is the Cause and Protector of problems where there should not be any.  I’m not surprised I have to add Big Vagina to this list.

Causing a Problem to Solve.

Don’t think that the sticker shock to both people able to get through to the exchange websites was an accident.

The Policy Prices were always supposed to be too high… and the exchanges were never intended to attract people to sign up.

In fact, the exchanges were simply supposed to scare the crap out of everyone so the Administration could step in and “solve” another crisis, with Single Payer.

What they didn’t plan on, however, was attention being brought to the cause of these high prices and this dysfunctional Socialized Health Care Scheme.

The Obama Administration is about to be forced to begin their War on “Big” Insurance Companies Early.

Obama Care is bad, bad, bad, and too many people are realizing it. (Many of us understood this when it was tried under Clinton… but I digress.)  The President has been forced to own his Socialist Healthcare Scheme by the likes of Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Mike Lee, et al.

But Remember!  The Folks in the White House cannot allow the Holy Grail of Socialism to be crushed… no matter what!

They need someone to Blame. (Pull out your copy of The Prince. I’ll wait.)

Machiavelli made the important point to his Prince that you need an enemy. That Enemy becomes particularly important when you are doing something to the population they don’t like. While you’re doing it you point the finger of blame at your Enemy… in this case, the Insurance Companies.

Niccolo also told his Prince to say whatever it took… whatever the peasants wanted to hear, and then do whatever you needed to get what you wanted even if it was the exact opposite of what you said five minutes ago.  (We are seeing that right now with “We Will Not Negotiate!”, “I’m Willing to Negotiate.”, “We Will Not Negotiate!”.)

This was recommended because the Peasants, it was thought, were too Stupid to see the truth.  Sound Familiar?

The Administration must begin telling everyone who will listen, that Big Insurance is responsible for all the ills they are experiencing with their Health Care.  Particularly sky-rocketing Premiums, when in fact it is coverage mandates resulting from Obama Care which is the culprit.

Blaming Big Insurance will find a home with the Useful Idiots… without any question. But it could ring true with others as well, which is why it will be somewhat effective in diverting the attention and blame from the Presidents Hallmark piece of Legislation.

But this is all to Plan!

Because, this is all about Single Payer.

And, you can’t get there until you put the Insurance Companies out of business.

The Socialists have created the problem so they can Solve it the Way they Want to… Because it’s just not Fair until we all have Crappy Health Care.

So get ready…

The Minimum Wage Effects Everybody

Artificially setting wages causes everything, up and down the supply chain, to get more expensive.  Way more expensive…

It causes the Buying Power of those it’s intended to help to go down. The “New” money they have never keeps up with the rise in prices of what they need to survive.

It causes the Employment Options for those it’s intended to help to disappear. The lack of a job has never helped anyone to provide for their family.

Raising the Minimum Wage puts even More Money in the Pockets of Big Labor Unions… and by Extension Socialist Democrats, who then cry for yet More and Bigger Government.

There is nothing good that comes from manipulating markets, regardless of what your economically challenged Liberal Progressive friends tell you.

Raising, Having, even Suggesting Minimum Wage Controls creates distortions in markets and ultimately hurts those who most need help.

If you think you support the idea you should think a little more and a little harder.

Stop this War on Women, Children and the Poor!

Stop this War on the Entire Nation.

Raising the Minimum Wage doesn’t help anyone.

It affects us all.

Bigots, Freedom and Cake

What is a civil rights violation?

In Oregon they have decided that denying a homosexual couple a wedding cake is a civil rights violation… in other words, forcing one individual to bake a cake for another individual is not a civil rights violation, according to this ruling.

Whose rights are being violated?  Or are Rights reserved only to Groups of People?

Recently a similar event surrounding wedding photo’s, taking place in New Mexico, perpetuates this line of thinking.  I’m sure there are more.

This should be a pretty simple, straight forward, problem to address.

If you want to refuse service to anyone, you can.  Why?  Because it is your right…. at least it should be.

But here’s the rub…

You then should have to endure my showing up outside of your establishment with camera’s and as much attention as I can muster.  Because it’s my right to condemn your behavior.  Publically.

This is how a Free society handles things.  But we have wandered far from a Free society.

So, If you want to be a bigot… discriminatory… racist… an a-hole… whatever… fine.  Look for massive amounts of attention focused upon you.  At least that’s what should happen.  So why doesn’t it?  What happened to not just ours’ but the media’s responsibility to shine sunlight on behavior that discriminates against the individual?

It has long been my assertion that news media is lazy… and biased.  The reason I say this is politicians regularly get away with abuses of power, unless they subscribe to anything resembling an ideology the press disagrees with, in todays day and age it happens to be Personal Responsibility associated with Individual Liberty and Freedom.

When U.S. Citizens are subjected to violations of their civil rights, in the above case being force to provide services to someone they wish not to, instead of the press bringing the power of sunlight upon the behavior being enough we are told we must seek Government Force.  Not to mention the press doesn’t want to have the expectation of performance to include a responsibility to address such problems.  Combine that with those among us who wish to control others embracing Government as being the only resort and you have the reason we are here today.

When WE stop correcting, addressing or at a minimum displaying actions that discriminate against the individual we abdicate our power to the state.  And it is impossible for the State to act in any way which “corrects” a problem that doesn’t diminish Individual Freedom and Liberty.  The State is FORCE.  And because of that, it should be avoided at ALL costs, not looked to as the Savior.

But we have been taught taking responsibility for our Freedom, Liberty and Safety is someone else’s job.  I know you have heard this… “The police are the First Responders” thus We the People are not supposed to confront criminals.  We are not supposed to confront bigots.  We are not supposed to confront racists.  We are told that our situation in life in someone else’s fault and by logical extension someone else’s responsibility.  We are programmed to believe Government is not just an answer, but Government is the only answer.

In the above case, the Press should have been the answer.  If this Cake Baker could have remained in business by refusing to Bake Cakes then, while a miracle, so be it.  But EVERYBODY should have known about it and it should never, never, never have arrived before a judge.  WE are the judge.  WE choose to not spend our money with a Cake Baker who, for whatever reason I don’t care, discriminates against individuals.

I Blame Us.  I Blame the Press.

As a result of our low expectations, desire not to get involved and abdication of our Personal Responsibilities to Government we have yet again lost an incremental amount of Freedom.

There isn’t much of it left.

The Next Shoe

What happens when you have struggled through a website designed by the worlds most inept, and expensive, web designers…

You’ve decided that paying three times more for insurance is a “good deal”.

When you come to your senses and being covered for a Pap Smear, while your wife is being covered for her Prostate Exam. is logical, reasonable and rational.

While accepting that dog food probably won’t taste so bad… since that’s what you’ll be eating just so you can pay the tripling of your out-of-pocket deductible.

And, finally, hoping whatever subsidy you might qualify for is continued FOREVER out of government generosity with money they don’t have…

Only to find out,

Nobody takes it.

Well, it’s the Next Shoe.

Those Damned Greedy Doctors are doing a number of things, none of which is embracing the brilliance of getting paid even less with the advent of Government enforced Private Insurance Monopolies which will eventually turn into the Mother of all Government Monopolies known as Single Payer Health Care.

Aside from Retiring, choosing other professions or opening clinics which rely almost exclusively on Nurse Practitioners…  They are Not taking the Obama Care insurance.

But Wait! There’s More!

Those few who are smart enough to be Damned Greedy Doctors are seriously considering other career paths which can capitalize on their intelligence and attention to detail in order to earn wealth for themselves and their families… instead of Medicine.

Those who are Currently Competent Doctors, and decide to stick with the only profession they know instead of retiring, will move into “boutique” medicine.  In other words cash for service.

For those of you out there who believe the word “fair” has a definition and think Obama Care is a good idea, the “rich” you seem to despise with all your heart will get the best treatment and the “poor” who are the richest poor on the face of the planet will get far less than what you thought they were getting just a few months ago.

While the old saying is “You get what you deserve”, I just don’t want what You deserve.

If you think you Deserve More Government… you have the Rest of The World.  There’s 194 other countries to select from.

I have a question for you.  Are you honest enough with yourself to ask why you don’t live in one of those now?  Heck, Mexico is beautiful!  So is Jamaica… and parts of Cuba!  The skiing in Canada is World Class…

If your answer is “Because this is the greatest country on the planet.”, then why are you trying to change it into a place you would not choose to live?

I have an idea, stop voting and start smoking your medicine.

We Need More Time!

We just need more time to get Obama Care right.

And by right I mean removing any possibility of getting rid of it.

But just like Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare, Obama Care is never supposed to “work” in the traditional sense. Of course what I mean by that is in terms of efficiency and solvency, let alone improving Health Care.  No, no, no…

Obama Care is about creating a brand new Massive Black Hole of debt with which we can use as a Over Righteous Moral Hammer to demand more taxpayer “revenue” to throw into it enriching ourselves and our friends.

So please bare with us while we ramp up the Fickle Finger of Blame we, and our friends in the Media, are going to point at the “Big” Insurance Companies. First because anything we put the word “Big” in front of must be bad… except for Government.  But most importantly because if it’s not their fault it’s ours… and how can we incite you to clamor for Single-Payer Health Care if all this is our fault!?  I mean, if we can screw up something as simple as a website that we’ve had over 3-years to develop, why on Earth would you want us to make decisions regarding what surgeries we’ll allow you to have?  We just can’t have you asking that question… so please don’t.

Anyway, just erase that the “old” system, even having a couple of problems, was far better, and protected your Freedom to Choose.  For God sakes… it’s the “Old” system!  Old!  Who wants Old stuff?  Old!  old…. and whatever you do don’t listen to those crazies who told you this was a debacle in the 80’s, 90’s, 2000’s and while this was forced through Congress a few short years ago.  They’re Crazy, Terrorist, Extremist Kidnappers who hate Puppies.  Seriously!  They Hate Puppies… and They Hate You!  They want You, and Puppies, to Die Faster!

Does the Sequester have anything to do with it?

– Asked Bill Hemmer of Fox News  (091713) in regard to the “lax background checks” which are being looked at after the shooting at the DC Navy Yard.

Let me answer this stupid question: “No.”

The proper, and non-idiotic, question is: “Does Government Waste, Fraud and Abuse in addition to Overreach syphon off dollars which would be better spent on things like thorough background checks on those holding, or applying for, Security Clearances?”

The answer to this non-stupid question is: “Yes.”

Simple enough.

The idea that a 5% decrease in the GROWTH of Government spending, particularly when the Federal Government is enjoying RECORD tax receipts, is inane… at best.

At Best. At worst, someone with an agenda is in his ear telling him to ask that specific question.

This is a fundamental flaw we experience when discussing the problems associated with Government.

We accept the premise that every single thing Government does is Imperative.  We START the conversation with the idea that not a single dollar is wasted… not a single department bloated… and there is not a single place where Government doesn’t belong.

That mindset is exactly the opposite of what the Founders had in mind when crafting this Great Experiment. Exactly the Opposite!

I expect everyone who reads this blog to pay attention, to makeaneffort to listen carefully and think… think about what is being said, and asked.

The very first question is “What is the Foundation of this argument?”, whatever the argument may be.

The Government is TOO BIG, TOO INTRUSIVE and now TOO OPPRESSIVE when it takes all our money, our liberty and now our privacy.

This Government was designed to be Limited. Limited. Limited.

Right now it enjoys NO limits.

So let me ask you, does the sequester have anything to do with lax security background checks?

Or… should the Government stop doing crap it has no business doing and focus on what it should be doing as outlined in the Constitution of the United States?

There are entire Departments, and projects, that are not detailed in the U.S. Constitution as a Federal Responsibility (The Dept. of Education?  The EPA? Up Arming Al Qaeda in Syria?  Arming Mexican Drug Cartels?  Covering up our Malfeasance in Benghazi?  The IRS targeting political groups it doesn’t like?  Or… How about The NSA Domestic Spying Program?) and if shut down would free up Billions of dollars… the may be a few of those could be used to check out crazy, violent and destructive individuals before we give them access to our secure installations.  And, we can still keep cutting the size of Government at the same time!

How’s that for a premise?

I’m getting Autopen!

All these years I thought signing something meant you personally approved it.  I thought it meant you were obligated to something… somehow…

I can’t believe I’ve been so stupid. Seriously stupid.

I have watched the Administrations answers from Fast and Furious, Benghazi, the IRS targeting of political opposition and also, I predict, the DOJ investigating journalists for doing their job… after which I’ve realized that a “robo-signature”, or Autopen, gives you complete deniability.  And, it appears everybody from our politicians to the Press are good with it!  Absolutely no problem.

In other words, you have your signature put on stuff by a computer… primarily legal stuff… and then you can say you never saw it! By “never seeing it” you can then say you never really approved it. These guys are geniuses!  (Unless you’re a bank… but luckily I’m not!  And clearly they aren’t either.)

With some consideration this makes complete sense.

This government’n stuff is hard. And it’s really, really BIG.  So, who can blame these folks when they are confronted with the immense amount of approven’ they’s gots’ ta do. I understand. So they came up with this thing… that approves stuff, but doesn’t really approve stuff, and all the while they never even have to know anything about it.

Wow! What a time saver! Think about how much more efficient the Government is just because of this and all that unaccountability!

Think about this.  If they can do everything important, from signing Executive Orders into law and up-armoring Mexican Drug Cartels to approving the arrest of idiot video producers while never even having to go into the office, then Common Joe’s like me should be able to do just about anything… in my underwear!  I like doing stuff in my underwear.

If you haven’t guessed, I’m very excited about this new time saver combined with plausible deniability.

The very best part is going to be when I have to “sign” my 2013 tax returns.
